Park Description

Hunter-Westkill Wilderness Area

As part of the 2008 revison of the Catskill Park State Land Master Plan the Hunter-Westkill Wilderness Area was designated by the re-classification of three other Forest Preserve units: the West Kill-North Dome Wilderness, the Ox Clove Wild Forest and a portion of the Hunter Mountain Wild Forest. The summit of Hunter Mountain was protected through the unit management plan which will make any future attempt to develp the summit much more difficult.
