The reserve can be accessed from the Metro North Appalachian Trail station. 

Park Overview

A ten-mile trail system winds through a microcosm of diverse natural communities.

Trail Overview

The Appalachian Trail (blazed white; 2.75 miles) can be combined with additional trails in the reserve.  Other trails blazed blue, green, orange, yellow and red -- which range from 1.1 to 2.7 miles -- form a network of trails making loop hikes possible.  Use the Web Map link on this site to view a trail map.

 

 

Park Description

Pawling Nature Reserve

Owned by The Nature Conservancy and managed by a local volunteer group (see Contact Information on this site), the Pawling Nature Reserve is home to some rare plant species, vibrant bird life, many different species of animals from salamanders to bobcats, as well as a variety of forest types and ecosystems. The Appalachian Trail traverses the reserve.  Hunting is allowed in the reserve during deer season.
